Sources. Income thresholds are calculated from the current HHS Federal Poverty Guidelines multiplied by the percentage each state uses for each eligibility group. Percentages come from state Medicaid agency publications, CMS state plan amendments and the Kaiser Family Foundation eligibility surveys.
Updates. Federal poverty guidelines are updated every January. States typically adopt the new figures between February and April. We refresh all pages when the federal guidelines are published and again as states confirm adoption.
Corrections. If you find a figure that does not match your state agency's published limit, contact us with a link to the official source and we will review it within five business days.
